The Lakeland Police Department is proud to partner with Lakeland Vision, Pedal Power Ministry, Polk County Sheriff’s Office and Florida Polytechnic University Police for the launch of Bike Buddies! Bike Buddies is a new program that creates opportunities for youth and law enforcement to build positive relationships through bicycle repair and mentorship.
Leading up to the first launch, officers worked on fine-tuning their bicycle repair skills in hopes of putting smiles on kids’ faces with the gift of a bike. The initial program was a hit and over 20 bicycles were given out to local youth.
