Vehicle 1, a Land Rover SUV, was traveling on the eastbound entrance ramp from SR-618 to northbound I-75. Vehicle 2, a Toyota SUV, was traveling on the I-75 access ramp to SR-60. Vehicle 1 failed to negotiate a curve in the roadway, departed the roadway, entered the access ramp, and collided with the passenger side of Vehicle 2.
Both vehicles traveled through the grass shoulder and came to rest in the northbound lanes of I-75. Vehicle 2 overturned and the driver, a 50-year-old Temple Terrace man, was ejected. Transported to an area hospital, Driver 2 later expired from injuries suffered during the crash. Driver 1, a 56-year-old Clearwater woman, was not injured.
