The chicken restaurant market is arguably a big one. According to Ibis World, fast-food chicken restaurants brought in $59.4 billion in revenue in 2023.
Floridians who want fried chicken can get it virtually anywhere – from the Publix deli to the Popeyes drive-through.
And now Floridians are getting (or have already gotten) new stores from an emerging chain that specializes in southern sides and buttermilk breading.
About Slim Chickens: The Company says its mission will always be to make the best hand-breaded chicken tenders using the freshest ingredients. They use a southern-style buttermilk marinade and premium tenders.
They offer sandwiches, wraps, bowls, salads, chicken and waffles, and “southern sides” such as fried okra, fried pickles, and macaroni and cheese.
Florida Expansion: In 2023, the cities of Sarasota and Wesley Chapel got new stores. According to the company’s website, it currently has 13 locations throughout the state in cities like Panama City, Lakeland and Sarasota.
New locations are expected in Celebration and Jacksonville.
Florida Feedback: TripAdvisor reviewers give the Panama City location 4 out of 5 stars. One person noted the cheap prices and the cleanliness of the restaurant. Several complimented the friendly staff. One person felt the tenders tasted homemade.
