What:              Three Parks Trail West Construction

Why:                Complete the Three Parks Trail Multi-use Path System

When:             Project starts January 29, 2024

Where:            Three Parks Trail from Cleveland Heights Boulevard to Westover Street

The Three Parks Trail West project will complete the loop of the City of Lakeland’s Three Park Trail by constructing the last segment of the trail that is currently sidewalk.  The construction will include approximately 0.6 miles of a 10-foot-wide concrete multi-use trail along the north side of Westover Street and along the east side of Cleveland Heights Boulevard.  The work includes clearing, removing existing concrete, earthwork, curb construction, sidewalk, driveway reconstruction and pavement marking.

Three Parks Trail is a 3.6-mile multi-use path that connects Peterson Park, Woodlake Park and Publix Charities Park.  Three Parks Trail System began construction in 2015.  This last phase of the project will extend the existing asphalt trail that runs along the perimeter of Cleveland Heights Golf Course south to Lakeland Family YMCA, then east to Peterson Park.

Three Parks Trail is a component of the City’s Lake-to-Lake Bikeway.  In addition, this segment is part of a designated proposed pathways corridor in the City of Lakeland’s Pathways Vision Plan included in the transportation section of the City’s Comprehensive Plan.

City of Lakeland crews will begin preliminary construction on January 29, 2024, prepping the area for construction that will soon start. The outside north bound lane will be closed to traffic during construction.  This project should not impact south bound travel.  Motorists and pedestrians can expect delays and should use alternate routes when available.  This project is expected to take approximately seven months to complete. Funding for the project was provided by the Florida Department of Transportation in the amount of $348,000.
