A “would-be Romeo” is behind bars after he acquired a Valentine’s Day gift the wrong way, according to Polk County Sheriff Grady Judd.
In a video shared on the Polk County Sheriff’s Office’s Facebook page, Judd said Anthony Lewis wanted to make up with his ex-girlfriend and decided to get her a pair of sandhill crane statues for Valentine’s Day.
The problem, Judd says, is that Lewis stole the statues from a woman’s yard. The statues were gifted to the woman by her late husband.
Judd said the Sheriff’s Office found the statues at the home of the ex-girlfriend, who was “mortified” and returned the statues.
Lewis is being held in the county jail, according to Sheriff Judd.
