This is an important message from the Polk County Sheriff’s Office Animal Control Section advising residents that on February 19th a bat was impounded from the 900 block of Lakeland Park Center Dr. in Lakeland. On February 21st, the bat tested positive for rabies from the State Laboratory in Tampa. Please ensure your pets are currently vaccinated for rabies, and report any suspicious-acting animals you encounter to the Polk County Sheriff’s Office Animal Control Section at 863-577-1762
