A new 10-acre hangout space, dubbed “The Canopy” is being planned for Orlando.
The catch? The space is under Interstate 4.
According to NBC affiliate WESH, the area will include artwork and light shows that look reminiscent of fantasy worlds like “Game of Thrones” and “Alice in Wonderland.”
The project will also reportedly include seasonal projector shows, an area for festivals and concerts, and even a transportation hub for buses, bike trails, and ride-share parking.
“We believe this design will bring people there. Not only will they want to go there, they will want to hang out there. This is not your typical under-the-interstate project,” Marty Hudson, the City of Orlando Urban Project Manager, told WESH.
Construction on “The Canopy” is set to begin in 2025 and last around two years.
