Two suspects were arrested in Lakeland for allowing a fugitive to hide at their home, according to the Polk County Sheriff’s Office.
On Feb. 18, deputies arrived at the home of the fugitive’s sister, Madeline Albarran, 41, and her husband, Angel Nunez, 38, located on Country Haven Drive in Lakeland.
The fugitive, identified as Davie Albarran, had active warrants out of Osceola and Orange County for the charges of sex battery on a 12-year-old, lewd and lascivious molestation of a child, failure to pay child support, and child abuse. He owes approximately $101,446 in child support.
Albarran was found in the backyard of the home.
Deputies said they knew the suspect was a fugitive and had been hiding him in their home since November 2023. When officials approached him, he gave them a fake name of Jose Rodriguez.
Albarran was recently featured on America’s Most Wanted, as he had been a fugitive for approximately one year.
“We believed at the time that Madeline Albarran and Angel Nunez were knowingly harboring Davie Albarran, but we had to gather evidence and proof that they knew he was a fugitive from justice on these horrible child sex abuse charges,” Sheriff Grady Judd said. “These two knowingly helped Davie Albarran hide from law enforcement and had been doing so for months. Now they are both facing a very serious felony charge.”
The couple was arrested for felony accessory after the fact of a capital felony.
Albarran was arrested for active warrants and Polk County charges of providing false identification to authorities.
