The Layoffs: According to two separate Warn letters dated March 1, 2024, the company indicated that its contract with Palm Tran Connection expires on April 30, 2024. Also according to the letter, the Palm Beach Board of Commissions has not approved a new contract for any provider beyond April 30, 2024. Therefore, the company has “no choice” but to conduct layoffs for West Palm Beach and Belle Glade.
The total number of employees between both locations is around 218 total and examples of the job titles affected are drivers, supervisors, managers, clerks, and dispatchers, to name a few examples. According to the letters, no employees have bumping rights, but most are represented by a union. The layoffs are expected to be permanent.
