Letter to the Editor – The Groover Family
This is one of the Polk County Fire Rescue Employees who showed up for my brother’s emergency call in 2014. He stood by and did nothing as my brother was dying. My brother was supposed to get CPR but no lifesaving protocols were followed by any of the EMS that were involved.
I was shocked to find out later that he was arrested for Domestic Violence in 2012 (on his wife while their child was only one according to the police report on Pro Polk County) and employed with Polk County Fire Rescue during that time.
I also found out other complaints were made internally by Employees of PCFR of issues with him through a public records request.
He should have been fired long ago. My brother may have gotten someone that would have helped him instead of this man.
This is unacceptable!! Polk County Government Florida should not allow for this. Citizens of Polk County he’s still collecting taxpayer dollars going to your homes.
My brother was only 58 years—old a Father of Two and a Navy Vet. My brother and other Citizens deserve better!

The Polk County Fire Rescue Paramedic Emery Paul Roberts who was with him on my brother’s incident was fired in North Carolina for 3 counts of sexual misconduct. Still, he came to Florida and was hired by Polk County! Then only 3 months after he stood by and did nothing to help my brother he was charged by the same State Attorney at the time for Battery on a Security Guard with video evidence yet he continued going to homes for Polk County EMS!
Way to go Polk County, Florida allowing these guys to go to homes!
