A rare earthquake was reported off the East Coast of Florida, according to the U.S. Geological Survey.
The magnitude 4.0 earthquake registered a little more than 100 miles east of Cape Canaveral, just before 11 p.m. Wednesday FEBRUARY 7, 2024 at 10:48 pm
Several people from Palm Coast to Vero Beach have reported feeling the rumblings.
The USGS says there is no risk of damage or loss of life from this event.
Officials say Florida is one of the states that’s had the fewest earthquakes on record. Since 2000, there has been one other reported earthquake along the East Coast — about 90 miles east of Jacksonville in 2001.
