Benson Huntley Jr a Senior at George Jenkins High School will be signing his NCAA Commitment Letter to swim for Emory & Henry College, Emery VA. The ceremony will be this Saturday at 10:30 AM at the Gandy Pool where he swam 4 years in Varsity under Coach Jenn Goslin and 3 years with his club team, Riptide Aquatic under Coaches Lee Stauffer and Jared Pike.
Benson has received both athletic and academic scholarships for college and is planning on seeking a degree to become a registered nurse. Benson is an Eagle Scout and an honor student and is actively volunteering in the community. A multi-varsity sport athlete in addition to qualifying for State in Swimming 2 years in a row, he also was on GJ’s varsity wrestling team under Coach Gavin Osborn and recently qualified for regionals in varsity Javelin for GJ Track and Field events under Coach Robichaud. Benson has worked hard overcoming multiple learning disabilities that he was diagnosed with at an early age and is a true testament that through perseverance and hard work along with support from teachers and family you can achieve anything you set your mind to.
