The James A. Haley Veteran’s Hospital said mold was discovered in parts of a building at its Lakeland clinic.
Cones and signs are posted around Building 2— located on South Pipkin Road—notifying patients of the clinic’s temporary closure. The hospital said mold was found in parts of the building’s ductwork during an air quality test in April.
“Out of an abundance of caution, JAHVH leadership closed the clinic due to concerns for staff and Veteran safety,” a representative said.
Crews began cleaning the ductwork on April 25. The hospital plans to reopen the clinic once the work is complete.
The VA said its staff has made every effort to contact patients impacted by the temporary closure to reschedule appointments or help them book telehealth appointments.
