As someone who lives in Florida, I have to admit, I see some wild news headlines. Here are a few examples. Florida man throws alligator through drive-thru window, Florida man caught keeping an alligator in garage, and Florida woman arrested after allegedly having sex with her household pets. Those may seem like the wildest headlines you’ve heard, but none of them beat this latest one in my opinion. Florida Priest Accused of Biting Woman at Church.
The Story
It all went down at Saint Thomas Aquinas Church in Saint Cloud on Sunday during their mass. While everyone was receiving communion, one unidentified woman got into an altercation with the priest. Both agree an altercation happened, but you know how the saying goes, there are always 3 sides to the story.
The woman who remains unidentified said “He wouldn’t give me the cookie. I don’t know if it was the way I was dressed, or if it is what I like,” A witness then said “he tried to forcefully shove it in her mouth she backed up she said, ‘No don’t do that’ and she tried to get it and that is when he went crazy,”
The story Father Fidel, the priest, told the police was a bit different. He admits that he bit the woman, but out of self-defense. He claimed the woman did not perform the necessary steps to receive communion and when he denied her, she attempted to grab it from him. Father Fidel told police he was protecting the bread because it is considered the body of Christ.
To add insult to injury, the entire thing was caught live on a feed the church streams online. This is especially bad news for Father Fidel because now there is evidence of what happened. However, I feel more badly for the woman. Now there’s evidence of such an embarrassing moment.
