On Monday, June 10, 2024, around 2:00 p.m. LakelandPD was called to Ross, 3615 South Florida Avenue for a male and female duo who were in the process of shoplifting. Associates at Ross knew the two had also committed thefts earlier in the day at the Ross on Lakeland Park Center Drive.
Officers quickly arrived and located the two in the parking lot attempting to flee. Idalmis Cuevas Rodriguez (age 52) and Ramon Suarez Garcia (age 37), both of Brooksville, stole thousands of dollars of merchandise (clothing, shoes, hammock, perfumes) from both locations using countermeasures to defeat the antitheft devices on the clothing. Cuevas Rodriguez has a history of these same offenses.
Suarez Garcia was charged with Grand Theft (F3). Cuevas Rodriguez was charged with Grand Theft (F3) and Possession/Use of an Antishoplifting Device Countermeasure (F3).
