Vice President Kamala Harris’ reported running mate, Democratic Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz, shortly after news broke of the vice presidential pick on Tuesday.

Minnesota, home to Minneapolis, was a major location for the Black Lives Matter riots in 2020 after the death of George Floyd.
“Harris-Walz: most left-wing ticket in American history,” DeSantis said. “Minnesota was ground zero for the BLM riots of 2020. Harris egged it on and Walz sat by and let Minneapolis burn.”
The governor also called Walz an “Ilhan Omar-style Democrat” and an “unbridled leftist.”
“In 2021, Minnesotans were roughly five times more likely to move to Florida than vice versa,” he said. “They were fleeing a state that, under Gov. Tim Walz, turned its back on law and order, increased taxes, and imposed unscientific coronavirus restrictions, harming children and destroying businesses.”
DeSantis’ communications director, Bryan Griffin, also went on the offense against the ticket running against Trump-Vance for the presidency.

“Kamala Harris, the most leftist presidential nominee in American history, picks an even further-left candidate for VP in Tim Walz,” Griffin said. “Biden is bad. This pair would be next-level destructive.”
Some Democrats worried about Pennsylvania Gov. Josh Shapiro’s pro-Israel stances in the context of rallying an already fragile Democratic base when the nominee just a few short weeks ago was set to be President Joe Biden. Shapiro is Jewish.
As The Hill reports, Walz has “liberal bona fides” and was also a safer pick among union backers.
