For me, it started with multiple people with zero ties to Excel Christian Academy sending me the police reports.
Shortly after I sent my email of concern to Dean Clark I received a meeting at the school event.
This is when my life turned upside down. I’ve never met Pastor Scott we don’t attend his church just the school.
I will not refer to him as Pastor Scott moving forward. I believe a pastor should follow the lord and also protect our children.
From the moment anyone took the mic they were cracking jokes trying to make light of the situation.
Scott immediately told us, “I’m not going to have coach Hodges up here to get attacked by ya’ll. I’m going to state the facts.” “I’m also not going to fire him either. If you want to withdraw your student there are papers downstairs. We have people waiting to get in. I will have the spot filled by 9 am tomorrow.”
At this point, I’m so upset that he did not care about these drug charges. Scott actually said, “It was too much and it wasn’t too little so he took a diversion program.”
So this man just admitted Corey has drug charges. Corey cannot ever be a CO again or work in law enforcement but you will let him around our children.
When I stood up and asked my questions I knew before I even went what I needed to know.
1. Did Corey Hodges have a level 2 background check before starting here??
Scott’s reply, “Yes he did”
My next question was,
2. So you knew about the drug charges and the arrest with sexual misconduct??
Scott replies, “He was found not guilty”
My reply was, what about all the other girls who made statements and came forward? Scott had a look on his face took a pause looked at Hodges then proceeded to say,
“They were all in the same case and dropped”
At this point, I stated so you knew and allowed it!!! What about my daughter being scared to come to school?
He then told me to go and withdraw my student and stated his records were sealed shut me down quickly. (Records were leaked before this).
My husband was so mad at this point he chimed in and asked, “How do you know all of this if the records are sealed?
Scott looked at Hodges and stated, “Mr. Hodges’s attorney had them.
Another parent asked, ” Why did you lie on your application about not ever being arrested for drugs/or misconduct with minors? Also, you were fired from that job.
Corey stood up at this point for the first and only time. He proceeded to say, “I was let go not fired” At this point I’m so mad he now has documentation of being dishonest and Scott was still ok with all of this.
From a mom’s point not once did this place address the children after multiple parents stated their kids are scared to come to school. All they wanted to talk about is the accreditation of the school. Never was it about the kids. The parents started stating facts about the records and Scott shut it down and made us all leave. Once we walked downstairs people were there with withdrawal forms asking us if we wanted them with smiles and giggles on their faces. I was so disappointed and disgusted at the entire situation. All I could do was walk outside and cry.
I put my trust in this school and they completely proved they don’t care about the kids in any way.
I did email Dean. Clark asking for a meeting with her and the principal and the four adults I wanted to bring. (Step parents and parents) her reply,
Who are the 4 parents you can set up a meeting with me and Scott!!!
So Corey is the principal why can’t he go??
This place is sick and a joke. If they hire Corey Hodges who could potentially touch kids how many others are there who could harm them?
Also, we found another document of a boy in Volusia County of sworn states he was molested by Hodges. I did email Dean Clark on 8/23/24 with the documents and stated, I’m a mandated reporter so here you go. You cannot state you didn’t know because I just sent this.
