The sad statistics from Polk County Animal Control continue to prove that those running the “shelter” are not at all concerned by the citizens who want change and accountability at our taxpayer-funded facility.
Attached are the statistics through July.
An average of 312 cats and 135 dogs are killed each month.
On average 508 dogs enter the shelter each month and only about 100 are returned to their owners (less than 20%)
On average 711 cats enter the shelter each month and only about 40 are returned to their owners (a bit over 5%).
Polk County Animal Control is still intaking ear tipped, vaccinated, altered street/outside cats. Since they tell us they do not keep records of how many cats are taken in that are ear-tipped, we will never know the percentage.
Please spread the word to your friends, relatives, and neighbors, DO NOT TAKE EARTIPPED CATS TO ANIMAL CONTROL. It is undeniably a death sentence.
Please share these statistics so more taxpayers become aware.
Please help these defenseless animals, Sheriff Grady. My whole family thinks the world of you when it comes to your exceptional deputies fighting crime and serving and protecting us.
I know in your good heart you can do better with the animals under your care. If you need volunteers, please tell them not to hesitate to contact me. I beg you to please do whatever you possibly can to make a better and longer live for this poor animals. It wasn’t there fault they were born without anyone to care for them. Please I beg you, help them all. Do constant activities for adoptions like they do in Tampa. God bless you and all of your animals.
