The Things We Leave Unfinished by Rebecca Yarros is a touching tale of love, loss, and finding oneself through art, both written and visual. The story utilizes multiple timelines and multiple cast groupings to convey the truest meanings of love: the love shared between a husband and wife, the love shared between couples exploring one another, the love shared between mother and child, and the love shared between siblings. Throughout the book, we witness how the characters interact with one another and how they see the world around them, along with their impact upon those within their circles. For those who enjoy a heart-wrenching love story, with a little miscommunication thrown in, and a happily ever after, this book is for you. You may shed some tears, but it’s not a guaranteed tearjerker like some other books I’ve read recently.
