Polk County has been declared a major disaster area by President Biden, opening the door for federal recovery programs and dollars.
Those with damage seeking the Federal Emergency Management Agency’s Individual Assistance funding must apply here. Those needing help with the form can call the FEMA Helpline at 1-800-621-3362 from 7 a.m. until 10 p.m. Learn about the application process here.
Most people will apply for the Disaster Assistance and Emergency Relief Program for Individuals and Businesses.
FEMA assistance is not designed to pay for the replacement of your home and it’s not to be used instead of your insurance.
In the next several days, FEMA and the county will set up a disaster recovery center in Lakeland. Where residents can meet with FEMA representatives to get help filling out forms and answer questions. In addition, FEMA representatives will be canvassing some neighborhoods to help get people registered.
