On May 9, 2022, Austin Moates received a call that two children were involved in a bullying incident at school. Moates brought the children home and talked with the mother. Moates “spanked them with his hand” for their behavior. Moates ordered one child to go to their room, but they refused. Moates grabbed the child by the neck and forced the child upstairs.
Moates later took the children to a park, where another person commented about marks on the child’s neck. Moates said the child “must have done it to herself”.

On May 18, 2022, Moates was arrested for child abuse.
ALL RECORDS HAD BEEN EXPUNGED!!!!
But Moates is still working as a resource officer at Kathleen Middle School

Did the parent grant permission for deputy to spank child? This deputy over stepped his boundaries. I would have sued the deputy and sheriff department!
Bonnie & others, sometimes it takes a village to raise a child, as said by Hillary. Some of these misguided kids were not getting sufficient discipline at home, so the resource officer did what the principal should have already one to them with a paddle in the main corridor of the school for bullying and not respecting others. These kids were not abused with a hand spanking, only thing hurt was they false self esteem that needed tending to long before.
OMG a parent cannot discipline a child but a deputy can abuse a child, what is going on in this state?
Any man who cannot make his mistakes is not a man.

Innocent until proven guilty. He proved his innocence. The SAO conducted an in depth investigation and determined that it wasn’t true and dismissed the charges, stating he never should have been arrested. The Sheriffs Office also conducted an in depth investigation and determined that the allegations held no validity.
Let’s not forget the woman who made the allegation, his girlfriend at the time, was an officer for a local agency. She was given the option to resign or be fired because she was falsifying police reports.
I think this deputy shud be fired ,if he does this to a child not even his own ,no telling what he will do to an adult or others.He cannot control his temper ,bye bye deputy,you make Grady’s team look bad!

Spare the rod spoil the child and this is the outcome so what become next out of control child a parent cannot control. What comes to mind where is the father. Humm

No one in my household threatened me or called authorities
I was disciplined correctly and am proud of myself and my children who as a matter of fact are doing the same with theirs My children are now 31, 39, 41. My boys and daughter call me on Father’s day! I am proud of it and all their their children 10 with steps have manners that are complimented repeatedly!Every day! Get off your lazy selves and teach respect and proper manners
