Florida will lose hundreds of more manufacturing jobs in central Florida as Stryker Sustainability Solutions will eventually close a Lakeland facility and eliminate all jobs by 2026.

The New Round Of Layoffs: In late 2021, Stryker announced that more than 500 positions would be eliminated because a Lakeland, Florida facility would close. This was to be a multi-year initiative that was expected to be completed in 2023.
However, in a warn letter dated November 14, 2024, the company indicated that it had decided to continue layoffs. The warn letter said that so far, 231 positions had been laid off.
Going forward, twelve positions will be eliminated on January 14, 2024, per the letter, and approximately 250 positions will be lost on a rolling basis by December 31, 2026 – which is the day that is anticipated for facility closure.
There are no bumping rights and the employees are not represented by a union. Job titles of affected positions include manufacturing associate, material handler, sorting associate, production associate, and production specialist.
