George W. Jenkins Award winners
Lakeland, Florida-based Publix Super Markets has named the recipients of its 2024 George W. Jenkins Award and 2024 President’s Award.
These retail and support leaders were recognized at this year’s annual Publix retail operations conference in Orlando, Florida.
George W. Jenkins Award
The George W. Jenkins Award is named after Publix’s founder. Recipients of this award exemplify leadership, perpetuate the Publix culture and demonstrate commitment to his ideals.
“It’s an honor to recognize and work alongside these incredible Publix leaders,” said Publix CEO Kevin Murphy. “They embody our culture and live the lessons of our founder each and every day for our associates and customers.”
The 2024 recipients are:
- Atlanta Division: District Manager Kayla Dean in Flowery Branch, Georgia;
- Charlotte Division: Store Manager Dan Ratchup in Cookeville, Tennessee;
- Jacksonville Division: Store Manager Jason Parrish in Ocala, Florida;
- Lakeland Division: Store Manager Steve Ellis in Tampa, Florida;
- Miami Division: Store Manager James Gooze in Fort Lauderdale, Florida; and
- Support: Director of Emerging Business and Private Brands Karen Hall in Lakeland, Florida.

President’s Award
Publix’s President’s Award recipients are committed to diversity and inclusion in the workplace. They also are role models by demonstrating exemplary leadership.
“These outstanding leaders are dedicated to their teams and helping them grow their careers with our company,” said Publix President John Goff. “It’s an honor to recognize them for the way they inspire, motivate and mentor their associates.”
The 2024 recipients are
- Atlanta Division: District Manager Tammy Quirion;
- Charlotte Division: District Manager Stuart Osha;
- Jacksonville Division: District Manager Jeff Thompson;
- Lakeland Division: District Manager Chris Gordon;
- Miami Division: District Manager Kevin Donlan; and
- Support: Manager of Associate Diversity and Inclusion LaTarsha Melvin.

Why are these awards only going to Store workers… are there High Awards given to the Warehouse workers? Just curious!!!
You certainly don’t see many women or poc holding the high jobs. Seems nothing has changed.
All employees in every store should be given an award . They work very hard , very courteous and helpful. Besides, they have to tolerate many obnoxious customers, maintaining that tolerance. Thank you . Davenport, Florida.
