At around 3:25 am on Thursday, December 15, 2022, PCSO deputies and Polk County Fire Rescue responded to State Road 60 near North Airport Road in Lake Wales, following a report of a man lying on the side of the road.
First responders arrived to find 42-year old Tarvares Lamar George of Lakeland, deceased.
The PCSO’s Traffic Homicide investigators determined that Mr. George had been walking near the fog line on the north edge of the eastbound lane of SR 60, when he was struck by what may have been a large commercial vehicle.
The crash is believed to have occurred between 1:00 am and 3:20 am.
