Polk County Animal Control punishes animal rescues for criticizing their policies which lack affordable spay/neuter and vaccination programs and above all prioritize killing over lifesaving.
These actions silence rescuers, leaving them fearful and unable to speak out as more animals are condemned to death.
Let us remind Polk County Animal Control — and every law enforcement agency — that the U.S. Supreme Court has consistently upheld the First Amendment right to criticize government policies and demand that the government correct its wrongs.

Polk vets are rip off for charging to mush money to Spade an animal. THIS IS WHY our shelters are so full. Not animals fault. DO NOT KILL. Ask for donations to help these shelters. SPCA ASK TO MUCH TO ADOPT AN ANIMAL OR I WOULD!!
Please other no kill shelters help Polk County Animal Control with there overcrowding. If sheriff Grady needs volunteers, I am willing to help. Please give these beautiful animals a loving home for Christmas instead of Euthanasia.
Some of those “no kill” shelters are the reason PCAC has so many animals. The shelters don’t kill but they send the sick or injured to PCAC, who then spends resources to evaluate the animals, treating if possible or put the animal down if necessary. PCAC is always looking for volunteers or donations. They just had a free adoption day on 12/14. Over 100 animals (out of about 200 that were ready for adoption) were adopted!!
I agree. With the high costs vets charge to spay and neuter! Change needs to be done to save gods creatures from being euthanized? Very sad!
Do not kill animals! Your prices are also to high to pay for adoption!
Please have a heart this blessed of all seasons. Rethink this horrific plan and instead invite all those with strong opinions against this to help with a huge clear the shelter event as many days as it takes and get the word out with media partners. Please let them have a chance at finding a home instead of murdering them at Christmas time or any other time.
Please sheriff Grady I agree on almost every policy that you have but a mass euthanizing of defenseless animals is not the answer. Let’s work together and give these dogs a 90 day stay of execution until we can come up with a new solution. I’m sure that people would be willing to donate more. I think that you could make affordable prices for people with low incomes and maybe there are a few veterinarians in the Polk County area that would be willing to spay or neuter an adopted animal for a minimal fee. Let’s try to come up with any type of a solution.
I was so disappointed to hear of Grady Judy’s plan. We need to stop this. Something must be done. My goodness those animals are sweet and innocent. Vets need to lower the price of spay and neutering. There are several unfixed cats in my neighborhood, it’s so sad. We need help.
