Sewer cleaning crews for the City of Lakeland discovered a break in the main sewer line beneath the sidewalk on the east side of South Florida Avenue just south of Highland Drive, the Florida Department of Transportation announced.
Crews closed the sidewalk on the east side of South Florida Avenue while making emergency repairs Tuesday morning, DOT said.
Work is off the roadway but may also require a northbound intermittent lane closure on South Florida Avenue south of Highlands Drive for placement of equipment during repairs. Motorists are advised to use caution and be prepared to merge, DOT said.
