The QVC Group has announced a significant workforce reduction affecting approximately 900 employees in Florida. The layoffs come as the company plans to move its Home Shopping Network (HSN) studio operations from Florida to Pennsylvania.
Many employees received termination notices this past week, though some staff members will remain employed for several more months as the company gradually closes its Florida operations.
According to company representatives, some of the current employees will stay on board for a few more months as QVC winds down operations.
The West Chester-based retail company, known for its television shopping channels, has not provided specific details about the timeline for completing the transition or what support might be available for affected workers.
“For many of these individuals, today will be their last day with QVC Group,” the company announced last Thursday. “Some will continue working with us for several months, mainly to support the transition of the HSN broadcast and the St. Petersburg campus.”
This move represents a major shift for HSN, which has long maintained studio facilities in Florida. The consolidation to Pennsylvania appears to be part of a larger reorganization strategy for the QVC Group.
While several Floridians will lose their jobs, local residents in Pennsylvania are welcoming the possibilities of more job opportunities in Chester County.
