A Lakeland woman was arrested late Wednesday night after deputies say she was driving under the influence with a child in the vehicle.
According to the Polk County Sheriff’s Office, the incident occurred on April 3, 2025, around 11:43 p.m., when a deputy observed a vehicle driving erratically near Harden Boulevard and Alamo Drive. The driver reportedly had a headlight out and was seen braking suddenly and veering into the median.
A traffic unit responded to assist with the DUI investigation. Upon contact, the driver, identified as Diana Ali Elgreish, displayed multiple signs of impairment, including bloodshot eyes, unsteady balance, and the odor of alcohol. Deputies say Elgreish denied drinking but consented to field sobriety tests.
She reportedly showed all possible signs of impairment during the standardized tests, including indicators from the Horizontal Gaze Nystagmus, Walk and Turn, and One Leg Stand exercises. Following the evaluation, she was detained and read her Miranda rights.
Deputies confirmed that a child was present in the vehicle during the traffic stop. As a result, Elgreish faces charges of Driving Under the Influence with a Minor Passenger and Negligent Child Abuse Without Bodily Harm.
