K9 Valor, we will miss ya, buddy. Have fun playing with the other K9s at the rainbow bridge 
Sadly, retired police K9 Valor passed away late Thursday at the age of 13. K9 Valor was the loyal partner of Sergeant Cory Bowling and served the Lakeland Community for eight years.
Valor joined the LakelandPD team in 2013, partnered with Officer Cory Bowling for his entire career until retiring in November of 2021. Along with his normal duties each shift, Valor won countless awards during USPCA certifications, finishing 2nd place several times at both the regional and national level competitions. During his career he assisted with 151 arrests and was an immeasurable asset to both our K-9 Unit and our community.
Valor was so fortunate to be loved by Sergeant Bowling and his family along with his adoptive family, Emily and Scott Shiver. Thanks to Emily and Scott, Valor’s retirement consisted of running in open spaces and serving guard for his chicken friends. Emily had served as a member of Valor’s veterinary care for much of his career. The two created a bond for life.
Valor we hope your running free of pain, catching up with your old K-9 buddies. We miss you sweet boy.
