The average Polk County homeowner will see a county tax increase this year that equals roughly $15 a month.
That was the “sound bite” shared June 30 in Bartow at the first Polk County Commission’s workshop on the $3.406 billion total proposed budget for 2025-2026. The general fund, which the County Commission will decide how to spend, would consist of $724.1 million or 21.3% of the overall budget.
Another workshop on the proposed spending plan is set for July 11. Polk County Manager Bill Beasley and Sheriff Grady Judd are expected to present their budgets the same day separately at the workshop.
Votes on a tentative budget and the final budget are set for Sept. 8 and Sept. 15, respectively. The new budget year starts Oct. 1.
