EAST MAIN STREET RESURFACING PROJECT
WHO: Contractors working on behalf of the City of Lakeland
WHAT: Roadway resurfacing as part of the City’s preventative maintenance program
WHEN: Starting Thursday, August 21, 2025
WHERE: East Main St., from West Lake Bonny Dr. to North Longfellow Blvd.
WHY: To improve road conditions and extend pavement life
The City of Lakeland will begin resurfacing East Main Street from West Lake Bonny Drive to North Longfellow Boulevard on Thursday, August 21, 2025. This project is part of the City’s ongoing preventative maintenance efforts aimed at preserving road quality and enhancing driver safety.
The resurfacing will include milling approximately 1.5 inches of the existing asphalt and replacing it with new pavement. This approach ensures that road elevations remain consistent, minimizing impacts to driveways and ADA-compliant ramps.
Work will take place during daylight hours, with roads reopened to through traffic at the end of each workday. Motorists should expect minor delays and are encouraged to use alternative routes when available. Traffic will be limited to a single lane, managed by on-site flaggers.
Scheduled Work Dates:
- Milling: August 21–22
- Paving: August 25–26
Note: Dates may shift due to weather or equipment-related delays.
