Closures are planned for the Polk Parkway and Interstate 4 in the coming week, the Florida Department of Transportation said.
Starting Sept. 7, there will be overnight single-lane closures eastbound and westbound between milepost 13 and milepost 16.5. The eastbound parkway at Winter Lake Road (Exit 14) will have full road closures overnight from Sept. 7 through Sept. 11.
Exits to Winter Lake Road
The westbound exit ramp to Winter Lake Road (Exit 14) has a full-time closure though late 2025. Westbound traffic wishing to access Winter Lake Road will be directed to exit at U.S. 92 (Exit 17), travel east to Recker Highway/CR 655, travel southeast on Recker Highway to Spirit Lake Road and travel south on Spirit Lake Road to access Winter Lake Road.
U.S. 92
Overnight full road closures are planned westbound at U.S. 92 (Exit 17) from Sept. 7 through Sept. 11. Westbound traffic will be directed to exit at U.S. 92 (Exit 17), travel east to Recker Highway/SR 655, travel south and east on Recker Highway to Spirit Lake Road, travel south on Spirit Lake Road to Winter Lake Road/SR 540 and travel west on Winter Lake Road to access westbound Polk Parkway.
Bartow Road
Overnight full ramp closures are planned at westbound Bartow Road/U.S. 98 (Exit 10) from Sept. 8 through Sept. 10.
The southbound entrance ramp to the Parkway from Bartow Road/U.S. 98 will have a full closure overnight on Sept. 9. The northbound entrance ramp will be closed overnight on Sept. 9.
I-4 and State Road 33
The exit ramp from Interstate 4 to State Road 33 (Exit 38) will be closed overnight on Sept. 10 for crews to remove high mast lighting, weather permitting. The closure could repeat during the overnight hours of Sept. 11, if necessary.
Motorists traveling eastbound on I-4 may use Exit 33 to reach S.R. 33/Lakeland Hills Boulevard.
