Last week Abuelo’s Mexican Restaurant chain filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy adding to a growing list of bankrupt restaurant chains this year.

They currently are down to 16 locations.

The Lakeside Village location opened March of 2007. At the time, they were the first Florida location and 38th nationwide.

It appears the Lakeland location is still open and business as usual. As of this morning, it can be confirmed that the lights are on, the muzak is playing, and employees are reporting for work.
