Regarding my post about Humane Societies, SPCAs, and animal shelters desperately needing real oversight — I want everyone to understand something:
This is NOT just a “Pinellas problem.”
This is NOT just one bad shelter.
This is NOT just one or two incidents.
Lake County, Lee County, Pinellas County, Orange County, Manatee County, and Polk County have ALL reached out to me — with the EXACT same stories, the same patterns, the same concerns.
So no… we’re not imagining this.
No… we’re not exaggerating.
No… this is not “drama.”
There is a real, statewide problem.
The finances.
The staffing.
The lack of transparency.
The revolving door of bad decisions.
The refusal to be held accountable.
The corruption that never gets addressed.
And with more and more counties speaking up, it’s becoming painfully clear:
Florida’s animal welfare system has ZERO meaningful oversight.
And animals are paying the price for it.
So here’s what I’m asking — and I need everyone to SHARE this widely:
I want to find a young, hungry, smart, up-and-coming person in politics, public policy, government, or law…
Someone who wants to make a name for themselves…
Someone who wants a real project, a real cause, and a real opportunity to make a difference…
Maybe a college student, a recent graduate, even a senior student — someone who wants a groundbreaking issue to take on and champion.
This could be the beginning of real change.
This could be their launchpad.
This could be the moment someone steps up and says, “Enough. We’re fixing this.”
