A long list of desired improvements at Florida’s state parks includes upgrades for three in Polk County.
In a report issued Dec. 1, Florida’s Department of Environmental Protection said the state needs to spend nearly $760 million on needed repairs, maintenance, and upgrades at state parks. The agency also described new construction and development projects included in long-term plans at many parks, including Allen David Broussard Catfish Creek Preserve near Haines City, Colt Creek State Park north of Lakeland, and Lake Kissimmee State Park east of Lake Wales.
