The Florida Department of Law Enforcement recently marked eight years since a Lakeland Air Force veteran was last seen.
The FDLE said Monday that it is continuing to pursue leads into the disappearance of Brian Edward Klecha.
Klecha was last seen making a banking transaction on December 27, 2017, at MIDFLORIDA Credit Union in Auburndale, the FDLE said. He was 35 years old at the time of his disappearance.
Officials said he worked at Disney and has ties to Orange, Polk and Hillsborough counties.
“Eight years have passed and we are just as committed as ever to finding out the truth of what happened,” said FDLE Tampa Special Agent in Charge Mark Brutnell.
The FDLE said Klecha’s Jeep Patriot was found abandoned on the Lee Roy Selmon Expressway in Tampa at the Morgan Street exit on Feb. 11, 2018.
Investigators said they believe the Jeep had been involved in a crash a few days earlier.
Officials believe Klecha may have been the victim of domestic or drug abuse and did not leave or go missing on his own, the FDLE said.
“If you have any information that can help us locate Brian, no matter how small, call us,” said Brutnell. “Even the tiniest shred of information can bring him that much closer to coming home.”
