Just after 3:50 a.m. on January 7, 2026, Lakeland Police responded to a crash at the 7-Eleven on U.S. Highway 98 North after a vehicle drove straight into the building, shattering multiple glass windows and damaging merchandise inside.
Investigators identified the driver as Livingston Dodard, who was still on scene. Officers reported signs of impairment, including slurred speech, bloodshot watery eyes, confusion, and the odor of alcohol. During field sobriety exercises, multiple indicators of impairment were observed. The driver later refused to complete additional testing and repeatedly interfered with a breath test after being advised of implied consent.
Police determined there was probable cause to arrest Dodard for DUI, DUI with property damage, and refusal to submit to a breath test.
No injuries were reported, but the 7-Eleven windows definitely didn’t make it through the night. Coffee was not the only thing shaken up.
