Governor DeSantis claims that he wants to and abuse and neglect animals, and he established supposedly a state animal abuse registry, although there are complaints that it doesn’t provide adequate information to identify abusers.
Why not ask him why he is allowing a sheriff and other counties not to implement the most recognized humane, fiscally and responsible and long-term solution for the Cat overpopulation issue.
The state of Florida has been negligent for decades and allowing pet over population to fester and billions of animals died over the last 50 years, and millions are still dying every year and billions of dollars of tax and donor money has been spent picking up dead, sick or injured animals on the streets with only a small percentage adopted. And that’s just the tip of the problem because many more are dying alone on the streets in the hands of abusers or neglect or just being abandoned.
Over a year or more ago, govern to DeSantis made a big social media presence when he said, his family rescued a family of kittens. He has the power to change things in Florida for the animals. I suggest everyone request that from him.
Animal defenders of Polk County had reached out to the governor and his staff. We have reached out to our state representatives also. We have received no reply of substance.
