1. Attend Polk County Commissioner Meetings (every 1st and 3rd Tuesday)
Showing up in person matters. Public comments are at the end of the agenda. Arrive early and sign up to speak if you’re comfortable. Even silent attendance increases visibility. We have Animal Defender pins to wear for these meetings. Photo in the comments

2. Contact Local Officials
Respectful emails and phone calls are powerful. Focus on solutions: spay/neuter access, volunteer/foster program, animal welfare committee, etc

3. Share Verified Information
Help spread accurate updates from this group. Avoid speculation. Share posts that focus on solutions and constructive advocacy.
4. Support Local Rescues
Fostering, donating supplies, volunteering, and networking animals all reduce pressure on the shelter system.
5. Participate in Group Discussions
If you have ideas, resources, or experience, please share. This is a collaborative effort. No single person runs this movement, we succeed by contributing together.
