MISSION 11 – May 5, 2026
Planning is underway for Flight to Honor Mission #11.
Mission #11 will take off on MAY 5, 2026!
As in the past, the Mission will depart from and return to Lakeland Linder International Airport for the one-day visit to Washington DC.
Flight to Honor Polk was established in January 2015 and is based in Polk County. However, any eligible veteran is welcome to apply for the Flight to Honor flight. Priority is given to those with severe medical conditions, followed by World War II, Korean War, and Vietnam War veterans.
All Veterans who have not participated in a previous Honor Flight or Flight to Honor are eligible for the mission.
Veterans participating in the mission fly for free and are accompanied by a Guardian for the day. Guardians are urged to apply for this mission. When selected to accompany a veteran, Guardians are asked to donate $500 to help fund the mission.

The Polk County Veterans Council exists as a voice in our community calling for a strong national defense and support for those who have and continue to serve. All organizations and individuals, public and private, who wish to join in this mission are welcome to participate in the activities of the council.
The council operates to coordinate various activities that support this mission. It also provides a forum for networking among the many organizations that share a common desire to support veterans and foster an abiding commitment to the values and principles for which veterans served our nation. The council welcomes any organization, individual, or group that wishes to join in this cause.
