Drew Sapp wasn’t in Lakeland’s defensive plans last year at the beginning of his sophomore season. At the time, Sapp was playing tight end, but as the season developed, the coaching staff realized that wasn’t perhaps the best fit. Late in the season, he was moved to defensive end in the eighth week of the season. In the remaining games, including the playoffs, Sapp began to emerge as an up-and-coming defensive player.
