In 1986, Jesse Jackson came to Lakeland with a message of unity, hope, and civic responsibility that left a lasting impression on our community. Today, we pause to remember that powerful moment and reflect on a life devoted to lifting others and expanding opportunity for all.
October 8, 1941 – February 17, 2026.
Though Reverend Jackson passed away this morning, his legacy will continue to inspire generations. May he rest in peace.
