Lakeland’s black history, we wanted to give the spotlight to Dr. David J. Simpson. In the early 1900s, Dr. Simpson didn’t just treat patients; he broke barriers. The first black physician in Lakeland, he worked alongside white physicians to improve healthcare for all.
