A spokesperson with the company confirmed the news in a statement to 10 Tampa Bay News on Thursday, saying HomeGoods has purchased 175 acres of land in Plant City for the distribution center.
Details are limited at this time, but the company said it expects to begin construction soon, creating jobs for residents of the city and surrounding communities.
The company said the distribution center will help service the growing network of HomeGoods stores, as well as those of its sister brand, Homesense.
“HomeGoods is extremely grateful and appreciative of the support provided by the City of Plant City and the Plant City Economic Development Corporation throughout this process,” the company wrote in a statement. “We look forward to becoming part of the greater Plant City community.”
Introduced in 1992, HomeGoods offers an ever-changing mix of merchandise, including furniture, rugs, lighting, soft home, decorative accessories, tabletop, cookware, and much more. More than a dozen stores are currently operating throughout the Tampa Bay area.
