A Bartow man died in the early morning of Feb. 25 in a two-vehicle crash in Lake Wales.
The crash occurred on State Road 60 West at West Lake Wales Road North, the Polk County Sheriff’s Office reported.
A 2026 Freightliner semi-truck was heading east on SR 60 when a 2022 Kia K5 sedan, also traveling east, crashed into the back of it for unknown reasons.
The driver of the Kia, a 32-year-old Bartow man, was dead when first responders arrived. His name had not been released as of the morning of Feb. 25. A passenger, a 37-year-old Winter Haven woman, was taken to a local hospital with minor injuries.
The driver was not wearing a seatbelt, but the airbags deployed. The investigation is ongoing.
