Details
The accident happened just after 8 a.m. on Polk City Road. According to the Polk County Sheriff’s Office and witness reports:
- The Incident: Traffic was moving slowly when the motorcyclist, identified as Reynaldo Diaz, attempted to pass multiple vehicles in the eastbound lane at a high rate of speed.
- The Collision: Simultaneously, the driver of a Toyota Corolla also moved to pass traffic. The driver reportedly did not see the motorcycle, leading to a collision.
- Outcome: Diaz was ejected from his bike and sustained critical injuries. Although he was wearing a helmet, he was later pronounced dead at a local hospital.
Investigation Status
The driver of the Toyota Corolla was not injured, and no other injuries were reported. The Polk County Sheriff’s Office is currently continuing its investigation into the crash.
