City of Lakeland Responds to Temporary Water Pressure Fluctuation

Today at 9:18 a.m., the City of Lakeland’s Water Utilities Department experienced a temporary fluctuation in water pressure at the T.B. Williams Water Treatment Plant, which affected 80% of commercial and residential water systems across the city and caused activation of some fire alarms. Normal pressure was promptly restored — duration of the fluctuation to normal pressure was two minutes.

The City activated its backup system, ensuring uninterrupted water service to the community. The backup system functioned as designed, allowing utility crews to address water pressure fluctuation without disruption.

City of Lakeland Water Utilities staff responded immediately, assessed the situation, and restored normal pressure throughout the system.
