Great news for local travelers looking to book their winter getaways early! Avelo Airlines officially extended its flight schedule out of Lakeland International Airport (LAL) through January 5, 2027, locking in travel dates for the busy Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Year holiday stretch.
While the airline operates a strong network of destinations out of its Central Florida base, the big news for the upcoming holiday season is the extension of its complete lineup—including Atlanta, Georgia (ATL) and Detroit, Michigan (DTW). Both of these routes were highly anticipated returns earlier in the year and will now remain fully bookable for residents planning family visits or winter vacations.
The 2026 Holiday Route Lineup
With a second based aircraft permanently stationed at LAL, Avelo’s schedule extension ensures consistent, nonstop options to several major hubs. If you are locking in holiday plans, you can fly nonstop from Lakeland to these primary destinations:
| Region / Destination | Airport Code | Service Highlights |
| Atlanta, GA | ATL | High-frequency connection to the Southeast’s primary hub |
| Detroit, MI | DTW | Perfect for families connecting back to the Motor City |
| Nashville, TN | BNA | Direct access to Music City for holiday weekenders |
| Charlotte / Concord, NC | USA | Quick, hassle-free access to the Carolinas |
| Grand Rapids, MI | GRR | Nonstop link serving Western Michigan travelers |
Tip for Booking: Holiday seats on ultra-low-cost carriers tend to fill up fast once schedules unlock. Because Avelo is the sole commercial airline flying out of LAL, you get to skip the massive holiday crowds and long TSA lines at MCO or TPA, making it a much smoother experience for family travel.

Flights for the late 2026 winter season are officially open for reservations on Avelo’s website.

Took 4 flights out of bgm all completely full what happened to the bgm route
Just flew to Concord over Memorial Day weekend. Had a great flight out and back and so convenient to leave from Lakeland. As long as the fares stay low, I will certainly continue to fly with Avelo. This was my 3rd trip with Avelo
