It sounds like you’re following the recent buzz around Massachusetts Avenue! Parker Street Ministries just marked a huge milestone for their 30th anniversary by officially cutting the ribbon on The Gathering Place (specifically named the George W. Jenkins Gathering Place).
They held the official ceremony on May 8, 2026, anchoring it with their massive 24-hour fundraising telethon that pulled in over $200,000.
Here is how the new footprint shakes out right on N. Massachusetts Avenue:
- The Main Campus (719 N. Massachusetts Ave): Continues to run their primary operations, including the Academic Enrichment Program (after-school and summer camps) for neighborhood kids.
- The Gathering Place (714 N. Massachusetts Ave): Located directly across the street, this newly expanded facility divides its space to serve two major community needs:
- The Front Half: Acts as a dedicated, welcoming event and celebration space for neighborhood residents and local families to gather.
- The Back Half: Serves as the new, expanded headquarters for PSM’s Young Adult Program, giving local high schoolers a focused environment for mentoring, tutoring, and vocational/workforce exploration.
It is a massive win for the neighborhood, effectively creating a centralized campus feel right there on the block to keep expanding their community development work.
