The Florida SWAT Association and the Lakeland Police Department will host the Florida Active Shooter Training Conference at Florida Southern College from June 29 through July 1, 2026.
The conference will bring together law enforcement officers from agencies across Florida for advanced training focused on active shooter response, including classroom instruction and realistic scenario-based exercises.
During this time, community members may notice an increased law enforcement presence on and around the Florida Southern College campus, including marked and unmarked police vehicles, specialized equipment, and officers participating in training activities. These exercises are planned training events, and there is no threat to public safety.
We appreciate the partnership of Florida Southern College for allowing its campus to serve as a training venue for this important event. Realistic training opportunities help ensure that law enforcement officers are prepared to respond effectively to critical incidents and protect the communities they serve.
The Lakeland Police Department is proud to serve as Florida Southern College’s on-campus police department, providing 24-hour safety and security services for students, faculty, staff, and visitors.
Thank you for your understanding and support as officers from across the state work to enhance their skills and readiness.
